So did anyone pin down the time when GM switched over to the beefier timing chains? Anyone find a part number of the one to order?

Anyone here have any issues with theirs?

Almost 28k on my car, in the first 50k made, no issues here whatsoever.

I haven't had any issues with mine. As a side note I thought I had a lot of miles on my Camaro (19,500). God mrray do you just go on weekly road trips?

Yes, I did and it was documented on C5.

12616608 and 12616609 were in production from 15May07-15July10.

12633451 and 12623452 were in production from 15July10 to present. (An improvement to the chain for wear resistance in dirty oil).

Well, I have over 32k miles on mine already and have no problems. Some one posted up on the other forums that they spoke with a GM Tech who said that waiting till it gave you problems to switch it out was better than just doing it to be proactive because of the problems that opening up the sealed block can bring.

Change the oil at 5000 miles or sooner and you should be safe. The trouble starts when you go towards the end of the 100% indicator.

:werd: got to say the oil makes a real difference also. I switched to Royal Purple and there was a noticeable improvement with how smooth the engine felt like it was running. Before I was just having Jiffy lube do the oil changes with their full synthetic (I think it's Kendall). Definitely glad I switched over, it is worth the extra $$$.

I have "Engines for life " it's a dealer promo , If you keep doing all your oil changes there the engine is fully covered as long as you own the car . So i'm still Mobil 1
