Hello guys, new to the forum.

Just wanted to ask if you all have been having problems like I have been.

The first check engine light had to do with the EVAP canister, cost me $850.00. It went bad right after my 50,000 mile warranty at 52,000 miles. Couldn't believe I had to pay that much on a car I haven't even paid off yet! :banghead:

Now another one came on, checked the code and its P0008; says it could be some type of timing issue. Just 15,000 miles after the last one! Going to get it checked out at the dealer on Friday. Would that be a warranty repair? Help would greatly be appreciated!

there have been known issues with the timing chains in the 3.6, how many miles are on your car now, about 70k if I am reading your post correctly?

Why was the evap canister so much?

68K Miles. The price included the labor. Canister itself cost around $200, labor was the rest. Just noticed on my way home, check engine light went out. Second time in 2 days that happened; its intermittent.

Take it to the dealer, drive train is still under warranty. IF indeed it is the chain issue, hopefully it will be covered and taken care of at the dealership.

Yeah, I'll be there Friday. Even though the mileage is good, the 5 year time limit will be up next month. Talk about timing! (No pun intended)

The car is sitting at the dealer now. Hopefully I can get a new timing chain instead of a reprogrammed computer. Waiting anxiously!

I've been looking all over for this P0008 code. I'm hoping if it the timing chane, it will be covered under warranty.

Yahoo. Can be your friend. Or me.

Yes that code is timing chain related.

Contact your dealer (I/WE recommend Rodgers Chevrolet and have them take a look at it, and see what can be still covered under warranty.

Very common. The replacement will be an updated design and less prone to stretch...and make sure to ALWAYS use only 100% full synthetic oil, and not the cheap blend. These chains need the added protection.
